The numbers back it up. 63% of the people who build this way have no technical training. Adoption among that group grew 520% in a year. 87% of the world's largest companies use at least one of these platforms. And the market, around $4.7 billion, is projected to reach $12.3 billion in 2027.

Most people will read this and think: "How convenient, now anyone can program with the help of artificial intelligence. One more new tool."

And they'll file it next to the other hundred tools they promised themselves they'd try someday.

The Deep Pattern

This isn't about easier programming.

It's about the gatekeeper who decided who could build. And about that gatekeeper disappearing. It didn't weaken little by little: it collapsed in eighteen months, and most people still act as if it were still at the door.

1. For decades, "knowing how to code" was the border between having an idea and having a product. That border was real, not imaginary. If you thought of something, you had three paths: learn to code for years, find a technical person who believed in you, or pay a lot of money up front. All three filtered out almost everyone before they started. The idea wasn't enough. You needed to cross over to a technical person.

2. That border no longer exists, but the mental map still draws it. The barrier was falling right when most people stopped looking at it, convinced it was still there. The non-technical person still thinks "I couldn't do that" with the same certainty as five years ago, without noticing the sentence went from being a fact to being a memory. The obstacle vanished before the belief about the obstacle updated.

3. When a real barrier turns into a mental barrier, it stops filtering by ability and starts filtering by who finds out. Before, the technical border separated who could build from who couldn't.
